First impressions are everything! So why not make a good first impression when you meet someone, go on a job interview or a first date by dazzling him or her with your "Hollywood smile." Whatever the reason, our dental services can help you "knock the socks off" of anyone by giving you a perfect smile and boosting your confidence so you can be at your best.

What happens when you lose teeth?

If you're missing teeth, you may find that there are other things you miss. You may miss your natural smile. You may miss the ability to chew apples, crackers and other food you desire. Maybe you feel self-conscious about your teeth and mouth, or discomfort as remaining teeth shift. And perhaps you've experienced muscle strains, an inability to speak clearly, headaches or unease in familiar situations at work, with friends or at home.

Naturally, the effect of tooth loss varies from person to person and depends on what exactly has been lost. If you've lost the crown, you've lost the visible part of your tooth. But if you've lost the root as well, you've lost the unseen part of your tooth. The root anchors the tooth in your jawbone, providing stable support for the crown. Without the root, the bone around the lost tooth may gradually recede, remaining teeth will shift and chewing may become more difficult with time.

You can choose from a number of ways to replace your teeth. But if you're interested in replacing your teeth - crown and root - your only option is dental implants.

Dental Implants for a New You!

Convenience: Dental implants can eliminate the numerous embarrassing inconveniences of removable partial and full dentures. You will eliminate the use of gooey denture adhesives that must be re-applied throughout the day. You will no longer need to cover your mouth when you laugh or smile, for fear that your teeth will pop out or fall down.

Improved Self Esteem: Considering all other benefits, dental implants will improve your overall self- esteem and you will feel better about yourself. At least that is what many of those people who have already been treated with dental implants have told us. You can regain all the capabilities you had with your natural teeth, giving you renewed confidence, and allowing you to enjoy life, do all the things everyone else is doing and not think twice about it.

Improved Comfort: Dental implants eliminate the pain and discomfort of removable full or partial dentures. Since dentures sit on top of the jawbone and gums, continuous shrinkage of the jaw bone alters the fit of the denture resulting in slipping or rocking of the dentures. Exposed nerves and irritation of the gum tissue may add to the discomfort. Implant supported replacement teeth are like natural teeth because they are anchored securely to your jawbone. Gum irritation and the pain of exposed nerves associated with conventional full or partial dentures are eliminated.

Great Value: Although dental implant treatment may initially be more expensive than other treatment methods it often turns out to be the best investment from a long term perspective since most patients can expect them to last a life time. Other treatment methods like bridges and dentures often require regular alterations and adjustments over time.

Implant FAQs

The following is a sample of the questions we are most commonly asked. If you have a query, which is not answered below, please contact us for further details.

Q. What is a dental implant?
A. An artificial tooth root implanted in the jawbone during a minor operation. The implant fuses to the underlying bone in a process known as oseointegration". This generally takes approximately three to six months.

Q. What is its use?
A. Implants can be used to support or attach dental crowns or bridges so patients can chew confidently with "fixed teeth", or to provide secure anchorage for dentures.

Q. Who can have dental implants?
A. Anyone who has lost or who is likely to lose a tooth or teeth can be considered.

Q. Can I be too old for implants?
A. No, provided you are well enough to undergo a straightforward dental procedure.

Q. Do all dentists provide this type of treatment?
A. No, those who do should have invested heavily in training and equipment.

Q. Is the treatment still experimental?
A. Absolutely not! Implant dentistry commands more research than all other aspects of dentistry combined. All the major and reputable scientific journals worldwide related to this field have published research data, which proves the predictability, reliability, and high success rates available to patients having this treatment.

Q. How long do implants last?
A. Modern implants have a proven "track record" of around 50 years. It is impossible to predict the outcome of a particular implant, but it is hoped that your implants would last a lifetime.

Q. Do implants cause damage to the other teeth?
A. No, unlike conventional bridgework, which often necessitates "cutting" healthy teeth, and removable dentures, which have also been shown to cause deterioration, implants are placed independent of neighboring teeth.

Q. I lost my teeth a long time ago. Am I still suitable for this type of treatment?
A. When teeth are lost, the supporting bone gradually deteriorates. Implants slow or stop this deterioration. Many patients who lost their teeth a long time ago can still receive implants without complication. However, to minimize difficulties, you should seek advice as early as possible following extraction.

Q. Is this kind of treatment expensive?
A. The treatment is sophisticated and state-of-the-art. The fee is therefore generally greater than that associated with conventional treatment. The predictability and long-term outcome of dental implants is second to none.

Q. How long does treatment take to complete?
A. Ordinarily 7 to 10 days from consultation to fitting of the final restoration.
